CELEBRATING THE DIVERSE COMMUNITY OF PATCHWAY
Patchway Town Council has passed a resolution welcoming the diversity of the community of Patchway and pledging to work in partnership with others to develop a community spirit which includes those from all backgrounds.
During the last 50 years, Patchway has welcomed residents from different parts of the country and particularly from Wales and Ireland. More recently, we have welcomed residents from many other parts of the world. This has contributed to the richness and vitality of our community.
The Town Council, AS REPRESENTATIVES OF THE COMMUNITY OF PATCHWAY asks residents to work together to understand each other, respect and acknowledge our differences and value the human spirit in each person, whatever their creed or ethnic background, so that all residents feel proud to belong to the community of Patchway.
The Councillors stated that they will lead by their example and will not tolerate any form of discrimination in our community.
Councillors have been shocked to learn that there has been a recent increase in the number of racist incidents in all areas of Patchway and deplore such incidents.
The Town Council will be working with the Police, South Gloucestershire Council and other groups to mount a campaign to PUSH RACISM OUT OF PATCHWAY.
If you have suffered an incident of hate crime due to your race or religion, contact in confidence www.report-it.org.uk or telephone SARI (Support Against Racist Incidents) 0117-952-5652. |
